Loupiac is a sweet wine appellation in Bordeaux just across the Garonne River from the more prestigious Sauterne and Barsac appellations.  We rarely discuss sweet wine because most of you don’t seem interested, but this a special situation.  Dauphine Rondillon Loupiac is only $25 when wines from Barsac and Sauterne are $60-$100+, and we believe this Loupiac tastes significantly better than any current release from the more marketed appellations.  The wine is intensely aromatic with notes of dried apricot, honey and something herbaceous like a Ricola cough drop.  The sweetness of the Semillon is balanced by the acidity from the 20% Sauvignon Blanc, making this “sweet wine” more versatile with spicy, salty, and sour foods like Thai or Sushi, than you might expect.  375ml
